McFLY Addiction: #McFLYday – 8 years of McFLY!
For some people, McFLY is only the last name of the guy from that movie, Back To The Future. For others, it sounds like advertisement from Mc Donald’s. But for those who really know them, McFLY is more than a movie, food or just music. They’re an example, an inspiration and also a way of making new – and huge- friends.
Eight years ago, the last member chosen signed the contract with what would be one of the biggest bands in the world. Dougie Poynter joined Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones and Harry Judd on August 5th, 2003. Time goes by fast, right?
The achievements came even faster and gave McFLY the deserved glory. From the opening band for Busted, the guys started flying and got the public’s affection with their first hit, Five Colours in Her Hair, which was played by the radio stations on April 4th, 2004. From this moment on, they’ve got seven number one singles, uncountable awards of best band, best musician, most handsome man of the year…
In 2005, the band released their first DVD. It was filmed during a concert of the Wonderland Tour, name given to their second album. For the band’s surprise, on September 10th that year, they got a place in Guinness, the records’ book. They were recognized as the youngest band to have two number one singles in a row.
In the following year, Tom, Danny, Dougie and Harry traveled to the United States of America in order to take part in a movie, Just My Luck, with Lindsay Lohan. It was also their first time shown in Brazilian’s media. Through the release of Just My Luck’s CD in the country, McFLY started writing their own history in South America. Still in the same year, the Motion in The Ocean CD was out.
Big changes happened for the band in 2007. After releasing the All Greatest Hits CD and DVD, they decided it was time for them to leave the record label. This way, they opened Super Records and in 2008, they released their first independent album, named Radio:Active.
Meanwhile, the DVD which was produced the year before reached the top of the selling ranking in Brazil. In order to return all this affection from the Brazilian fans, the band played their first shows in the country. It was also the start of the interaction between McFLY and McFLY Addiction, which sent questions for the band through a magazine called Capricho.
The sensation of having the band in the country was unique and touching. Always being attentive, they promised coming back. And they did. Seven months later, in 2009, our team got the chance of interviewing McFLY (1st part/2nd part). Our hard work was recognized and applauded by the band, which received us with care and attention.
In 2010, with the strong need of new experiences, McFLY spent some time in the USA with the producer Dallas Austin. It was the beginning of a new era. The band returned to their previous record label, Universal Music, and the album Above the Noise was released. In October, they opened their website, Super City . The amount of people online was so high that the server broke down and the release date was postponed to November. Among opera programs, challenges inside a glass cube, dance competitions, broken hearts, the band kept being strong and started the Before the Noise Tour in 2011.
In the end of May, it was time for South America to welcome to guys for the third time. With sold out concerts, meet and greets for over 10 thousand fans, McFLY showed they’ve got a faithful legacy of followers, ready to face everything that may come. From funny teenagers, they turned to real men, Tom, Danny, Dougie and Harry continued enchanting the world, with their sweet eyes and friendly smiles, proving even more that for good music, there’s no age. There’s talent. And they’ve got plenty of this.
McFLY Addiction team congratulates the band for one more year of success and achievements. It’s an honor for us to follow the steps of these four loved and dedicated men. And we also congratulate the fans, for their steadfast and tireless support for the band.

Eu ri DEMAIS com isso! Principalmente depois que a Fran disse que o Danny tava sofrendo bullying! LOL
Didn’ he actually say something like “Malfoyd”…I think Danny is the result of an Obliviate spell gone wrong.
